Hi. Without going into a big saga here, I have a girlfriend who lives in an assisted living place. She wants to get a leader dog, but because she has cellulitis of her left arm from previous breast cancer, she wonders if they can train the dog to walk on the right side. leader seems like they work with special needs. The place she lives in though says she needs to take all responsibility for cleaning up after the dog and caring for it. She has terrible anxiety normally anyway, And I think her daughter is wondering if a dog would help. I wonder if it would make her anxiety worse because of the dog care. Any opinions? She is a good traveler.
Has she talked to Leader yet? If she has, what have they told her? If she hasn't, I think that should be her first step. A lot of the questions she has, it seems that only Leader could address. I dont' think she can make any kind of decision till she talks all angles, pros and cons, and possible issues out with the school. they may not have all the answers, but they should be able to give her more than she has now, or work with her to figure out if this would be the right choice for her, or even a possible one given her situation.
